Tunisia 2010

Caravan's arrival

25.3.2010 | Douz, Tunisia

I was really happy to meet the guys. They reached the camp 10 minutes after I arrived. Photo: Robert Milič Well, this DS became quite a big enterprise, look how many vehicles it's got in the fleet. ;) Featuring Etieen, Tilen and Matevž. On Sunday they finally arrived. My Slovenian friends Robert and Etieen Milič and Matevž Hribar and brought along some useful things and goodies, among them also my mom's "strudel" which survived all the way from Slovenia to southern Tunisia.

Etudes pour Desert Mobil

24.3.2010 | Douz, Tunisia

Karl Heinz and the Surely that way? Yes!

Last week, before my friends Robert, Etieen and Matevž came to Tunisia, I took of for some dune-bashing in the south of the country with Karl-Heinz Benemsi, his dog Kali, and the Swiss Toyota drivers Gabi and Paul.

Waiting for changes

16.3.2010 | Ksar Ghilane, Tunisia

It was nicer under the surface than above it. 30% of all deaths happen at home. Stay way out! (I post at Karl Heinz's Magirus-truck door.)

After the visa conflict arose between the Schengen states and the Great Socialist Peoples' Libyan Arab Jamahiriya I'm being forced to take shelter in Tunisia. Due to the conflict duration, my friends that are about to reach me and were planning to be my guests in one of the most beautiful deserts I know, will apparently have to satisfy themselves with Tunisia.

Libya 2010

Desert Soul supports intercultural rapprochement and education

13.2.2010 | Tripoli, Libya

Entering the Rebiana oasis. 3 of the 14 teachers, destined for two years to Rebiana from all over Libya.

A part of the preparations for the next expedition, scheduled for end of 2010 and the beginning of the 2011, was a visit, paid to the schools in Kufra and in the tiny oasis of Rebiana. Desert Soul is about to step a step higher. Simple travels that probably brought different cultures a bit closer to the minds of my blogs' readers will grow into expeditions that will not only serve as a rapprochement of cultures, but also encourage education and later hopefully also other things that communities in the world are in need of.

From the dunes to Tripoli

12.2.2010 | Tripoli, Libya

Good morning, sunshine! The last series of dunes (actually I had to bite into the closest one, just 2 metres from where I'm standing now) and... ... we're out!

The next morning my house and I managed to find the way out of the dunes and entered al-Waha oil field. After having my morning nescafe with the security guys at the entry gate (the tyres were meanwhile being inflated to the definite 3 and 3,5 bar – approximately 40 and 50 PSI) I headed northwards, but less than a kilometre later my attention was drawn to a huge Dodge truck next to which my dwelling looked like a dwarf.
