Libya 2006

Hooooraaay

27.1.2006 | Ghat, S Libya

My dear readers: seeing that you're bound to get a more extensive report later, that we worked pretty hard out there, and that the keyboard in this place is filled with sand, which makes the keys stick and writing this not exactly a pleasant experience, I'll be brief on our recent adventures.

Freezing on the bikes

27.1.2006 | Ghadames, Libya

Loads of interesting things, of which I'll speak later. For the time being, let me just say that we’re in Ghadames, that it's been raining up until today, that we covered 530 km of road in rain on our first day in Africa from Hammamet, where we unloaded the trailer, 385 km on our second day in same conditions, and only a bit more than 200 km today, if I'm not mistaken. At 12:51 pm the sun first shone on us, which made us jump for joy on our motorbikes. We do that anyway, to keep warm; yesterday we went 120 km in dark, sand drifting on the road, with 60C outside. We were delayed on the border and changing tyres in Zuara on the coast of Libya.

Adventure started

18.1.2006 | Genoa, Italy

Photo: Blaž Žganjar

Adventure, which will take us from Italian port of Genoa by ferry to Tunis, from where we'll head for Libyan deserts...

Syria and Jordan 2004/05

There is a happy end

11.3.2005 | Maribor, Slovenia

I managed to get on the plane after all (the representative of Turkish Airlines was a very nice guy) and paid quite a normal price too. First I was shocked by the heavy morning snow in Istanbul and then by a bunch of Slovenians and Croatians, crowding round the Zagreb gate (it was quite silly of me to expect anybody else there). I just kept a low profile and listened.

Coming back home

10.3.2005 | Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt

To understand the story I’m about to tell you and the graveness of the obstacles in my way properly you have to know that I was in a big hurry. It wasn't just me being capricious or tired of Jordan (on the contrary!). A very important international project depended on my coming back home immediately. Without me it would have turned into a disaster (not to mention my head would surely roll).
